In this full time permanent Medical Science Liaison (GI Cancers) role you’ll report to the Therapeutic Area Lead and be based in Sydney, with a national focus. You’ll support scientific exchange, insight gathering and evidence generation across a dynamic and growing pipeline.
You’ll have opportunities to contribute to launch readiness and future portfolio evolution. You will work cross-functionally to align global science with local healthcare needs and help deliver strategic, scalable, and balanced impact for patients.
Responsibilities include:
Lead peer-to-peer knowledge sharing with Healthcare Professionals and Key External Experts across gastrointestinal cancers
Build trusted external partnerships to gather insights, identify unmet needs and inform local medical strategy
Deliver accurate, balanced and non-promotional clinical and scientific information to support the appropriate use of AstraZeneca medicines
Support pre-launch medical activities for pivotal pipeline assets, including readiness for potential future indications in gastrointestinal cancers
Collaborate cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Market Access, Regulatory and other partners to coordinate global strategy with local healthcare system needs
Contribute to evidence generation, scientific meetings and medical education activities in line with the Field Medical Strategic Plan
Qualification in a scientific field such as Medicine, Pharmacy or life sciences, or equivalent relevant experience in Medical Affairs
Experience as a Medical Science Liaison or strong, relevant pharmaceutical industry, clinical research, preclinical research or market access experience
Strong scientific background, with experience in oncology or demonstrating transferable expertise relevant to the role
Excellent communication and presentation skills, demonstrating confidence when engaging with external experts in scientific dialogue
Strong analytical thinking and project management capability, with the ability to work efficiently across cross-functional teams
Ability to travel as required for a field-based role in Australia
Broader scientific curiosity and flexibility to develop across adjacent oncology areas as business needs evolve
Experience in gastrointestinal cancers, eg. hepatocellular carcinoma or gastric cancer
Higher degree in a science-related area, such as a PhD or equivalent experience, PharmD, or MD
Experience supporting pre-launch activities, evidence generation or launch readiness within Medical Affairs
Demonstrated understanding of the Australian healthcare environment, including local stakeholder needs and market access considerations
